File formats
Every format is converted on your device. Imports show a report of what was kept, approximated or dropped before anything changes your map.

Import safety
- Files up to 25 MB; maps up to 20,000 topics and 120 levels deep. Larger inputs are refused before they can freeze your browser.
- XML (OPML, FreeMind) with a DOCTYPE or entity declarations is rejected, which blocks external-entity and entity-expansion attacks.
- Word files are checked for a valid ZIP header and an unsafe expansion size before they are opened.
- HTML is parsed without executing scripts; scripts, frames and styles are stripped.
- Links are limited to https, http and mailto. javascript: and data: links are removed.
- CSV exports prefix cells that start with =, +, − or @ so spreadsheets do not run them as formulas.
- Importing never replaces your current map automatically. “Replace” saves a snapshot first.
The native format
A .mindmap.json file is readable JSON: { format, schemaVersion, document: { title, rootId, nodes, relations, view, … } }. Each node lists its parent and ordered children. We keep reading older schema versions. If a file comes from a newer version, fields we do not understand are kept and written back unchanged.
