PDF to mind map
Open a PDF with selectable text. Headings are detected from font size and numbering, and the body text is attached as notes with page references.
or drop it here · read on your device, never uploaded
How to use it
- Choose a PDF — it is read by your browser, not uploaded.
- Review the inferred headings in the preview.
- Open in the editor to rename, merge and reorganise branches.
How it reads a PDF
The PDF’s text layer is extracted page by page with PDF.js, running in a background worker on your device. Lines set noticeably larger than the body text, and numbered lines such as “2.3 Results”, are treated as headings; their relative sizes decide the levels. Paragraphs underneath become notes on the nearest heading, with the page number recorded.
If no heading structure can be found, the text is mapped with the same local keyword method as Text to mind map.
FAQ
Is the PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened with the browser’s File API and processed in a local worker. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
Why are some headings wrong?
PDFs store positioned text, not structure. Font sizes are a good signal but not perfect — rename or drag branches in the editor.
